A cultured pearl is grown with a mollusk. It is not a plastic imitation bead and it is not a gemstone like moissanite. Color and shape vary from piece to piece; the product photos and the stone line on the specs are the description to trust for that listing.
Findings and chains are solid 925 sterling silver with the S925 hallmark. Rhodium, when used on the metal, keeps the silver bright next to the pearl. The pearl itself is nacre, which is softer than the gemstones in our other hubs. Perfume, hairspray, and lotion dull it, so put pearls on last and wipe them with a soft dry cloth. Do not soak them, and do not store them against moissanite or crystal pieces that can scratch the surface.
We do not grade pearls with GIA paperwork. We do not call them diamonds. If a listing pairs pearls with crystal accents, the accents are AAA Amazing Crystals.
